History:
Sometime in the fall of 1992, Corgan sent a demo tape,
Quiet and Other Songs, to Virgin Records. These demos
would lead to the band recording their 2nd album and
the first for Carorline's major label sister, Virgin,
between December 1992 and March 1993.

In March, SP resumed touring a bit, including a spot
on MTV Europe's "Most Wanted" on June 22nd. On July
27th, Siamese Dream was finally released in stores.
It debuted at #10 on Billboard, and would prove to be
their breakthrough album. This was followed by the
official start of their Rock Invasion tour on July 30th.

Following the album's early success, they landed a gig
on Saturday Night Live, performing on October 30th.
The band performed "Cherub Rock" and "Today" on
the show. The appearance boosted sales 22% and
Siamese Dream reached 1 million copies sold. Before
the year was done, the album would also garner the
band their first Grammy nomination.

In March 1994, fellow alternative rockers, Nirvana
pulled out of Lolapalooza, and in turn, the Pumpkins were chosen as the replacement headliner
for the festival. As the year progressed, Siamese Dream reached another milestone for the band
the band, as it hit double platinum in April.

The band hit the Lolapalooza stage for the first time on July 7th. As headliners, SP were able to
unveil their spectacular light show after dark. On the 11th, Billy would join one of his favorite
bands, The Frogs on the 2nd stage. In late August, SP went on the 2nd stage themselves for a
series of surprise sets, as it was usually reserved for up-and-coming bands.

During the course of the summer, the Pumpkins were also beginning to record demos for their
follow-up to Siamese Dream. For the initial demos, the band booked time at Gravity Studios in
Chicago. These sessions, now known as the Gravity Demos, were mostly instrumentals, except for
"Bullet With Butterfly Wings", which some regarded as having "a half-hearted" scratch vocal.

With the conclusion of the Rock Invasion tour in early September, SP performed "Disarm" at the
MTV Music Video Awards. They also were named "Artist of the Year" by Spin at this time. On
October 4th, the Pumpkins released Vieuphoria, a video containing live performances, a variety of
of skits, and other archival footage. Some initial copies came with the limited edition promo cd,
Earphoria. On the same day, Pisces Iscariot, a b-sides album was released. This included many
rare Gish and Siamese Dream b-sides, as well as some unreleased Siamese Dream outtakes.

During the fall, Billy recorded more demos at his home (Sadlands). The demos included songs like
"Rotten Apples" and"Autumn Nocturne". "Stumbleine" would be the only demo to later make the
album. Around this time, Billy revealed that the next release would be a double album and would
include instrumental, acoustic, electric, and orchestral elements. This album would later come to
be known as Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness.
