Milestones:
Siamese Dream was The Smashing Pumpkins' breakthrough into the mainstream. It debuted on
Billboard at #10. Siamese Dream earned them one Grammy nomination and sold them about 4
million records. They earned a spot as headliners at Lollapalooza after Nirvana pulled out of the
tour. They appeared on Saturday Night Live, which boosted record sales 22%. Billy Corgan got
married to his wife Chris by the time it was released. They appeared at Australia's Big Day Out.
They appeared at Brixton Academy, where Billy dressed up in a clown suit for the encore-an idea he
started to regret while he put on the costume. During the recording of Siamese Dream, the band
had its perils though: Billy was suicidal, James and D'arcy were told to get their act together or
leave, and Jimmy Chamberlain went into rehab.
Other Facts :
Siamese Dream also had a clean version, where
"Silverfuck"'s name was changed to "Silvercrank".
The pictures in the Siamese Dream booklet are not old family pictures like many have thought, they
were compiled by a graphic artist, they are completely random. In the original copies of Siamese
Dream there were full page photos, but in the later copies-pages were combined. Also, the art on
the cd itself is just a Virgin Records logo used in 1993 on all Virgin cds. The girls on the cover are
unknowns, they are not D'arcy's sisters- refer to the
"Today" Single. No one knows anything about
them, and Billy has only made jokes about who they are- not anything clear.
