-This song was written after Billy's girlfriend, Chrisbroke up with him. During the recording of Siamese
Dream they got back together and marry. They later
divorced in 1997.
-From the SP FAQ: "Soma" was a drug in the book,
'Brave New World'; greek for 'body'; a legendary
place where people sleep for a billion years; various
religious entities, among other things.
Song Secrets:
-You can hear crickets at the beginning. It ends witha TV evangelist clip: "and you need to resist the
devil so that he will flee." That TV voice was used at
the 6/18/94 Starchildren show and looped
throughout the song "War Jam" which they played
