Starla was named after a girl Billy met in Dallas while on tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
2 and a 1/2 years later, Billy found out at a party that the girl's real name was Darla. 
Starla was suppose to be a demo for Siamese Dream but they needed b-sides for their 
"pretty worthless" I Am One U.K. single. Both Starla and Plume were recorded during two
sessions,"one for vocals and solos, and one for drums,etc." The middle part of the lyrics 
was written on an envelope. The solo was being recorded at 7 am, hence the police car
going by.
