Goodnight, to every little hour that you sleep tite May it hold you through the winter of a long night And keep you from the loneliness of yourself Heart strung in your heart frayed and empty Cause it's hard luck, when no one understands love It's unsung, and I say Goodnight, my love, to every hour in every day Goodnight, always, to all that's pure that's in your heart Goodnight, may your dreams be so happy and your Head lite with the wishes of a sand man and a night light Be careful no to let the bedbugs bite Sleep tight nestled in the covers The sun shines but I don't A silver rain will wash away And you can tell, it was just as well Goodnight, my love, to everyhour in every day Goodnight, always, to all that's pure that's in your heart |

Recorded: Between March-August 1995
Written by: Billy Corgan and James Iha
Available on: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness(CD/CS) Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness(12")
Song Secrets: -Jimmy Chamberlin, James Iha, and D'Arcy all sing in harmony at 2:14, then Billy joins in at 2:27, and they all sing 'the sun shines/but i dont/the silver rain/will wash away...' At about 2:40, just after they sing the last note, 'away,' you can hear a wave wash over, and Jimmy sings quiety, 'rain.' Either that, or he holds his note too long. -Hummer -It sounds more like James and it sounds more like he says "wash away the pain" instead. -nirvfoo foonirv
Other Info: Only song ever recorded by the Pumpkins which has all the members of the band singing in it.
